Recreating Fred Reeds Howling Griffons (WD180)   The highlight of any White Dwarf is the battle report, and during the 90s the battle report was at its best! The pre battle army round up, the blow-by-blow account of the battle, the handmade terrain, the strategy maps with all the symbols for each unit and of course the army photos of each opposing side. The 90s saw some of the most iconic battle reports ever produced by Games Workshop, the likes of ‘Fangs of The Wolf’ which pitched Andy Chambers Space Wolves against Jervis Johnsons Ork war band lead by non-other than Ghazghkull Thraka! Or ‘Anges of Death’ where again Andy Chambers and Jervis Johnson pitch off again, this time the Blood Angels take on an Ork Hoard. Or even ‘Witch Hunt’ this time Jake Thornton and Adrian Wood jump into the fray with an Eldar and Ork match up. There were so many great battle reports produced during the War Hammer 40,000 second edition era. However, there was one Battle Report that stood...

So my first lot of Ork Boyz turned up in the post and I set to work putting them together. Now these are the most up to date Orks on the market albeit they have been around for a very long time. (I wonder if they are updated with the up and coming 8th edition Codex due to land) However the 'modern' Ork is now more serious looking, gone are the days of the whimsical space Ork of the 2nd edition days. As I am looking to create a 2nd edition feel with the army I may need to do a few very simple conversions. As a kid I always wanted this Bad Moon model! I loved the moon style hat. So I have taken it upon myself to try and replicate this look. What do you think? I'm quite happy with it and once painted it will look ever better I'm sure. My next task is to work out what skin colour scheme to go for. I will report on this next time. Until next time! WAAAGH!!!         kjygkjhgkj        ...

Operation Waaagh! Up date. So on a sleepy Saturday afternoon rummaging around my garage I found my old 2nd edition 40k Orks from the old box set! Sweet! A great place to start my new Orks warband. As you can see 12/13 year old me was not much of a painter but looking at these guys brings back some fond memories. So the plan is to start small, literally in that I am going to start with repainting 10 Gretchin. I don't much care for the old Goff Orks so I may not do anything with them and keep them to one side for nostalgic reasons. The Gretchin on the other hand I reckon I will be able to get away with in my new army looks wise. Yes the sculpts are all the same but there fun little buggers so looking forward to giving them a new lease of life. Untill next time, WAAAGH!

WAAAAAGH! 90’s Style

Welcome to my Blog So iv been war gaming on and off since the early 90's my first venture into the world of war gaming was Epic Space Marine from GW which moved quickly on to 40k Second edition of which still holds fond memories for me. The colours, the models, the White Dwarf mags of the day all take me back to my childhood. Since then like most who venture into the dark depths of war gaming I dipped my toe in and out. However for the last 5 years my toes have been submerged and I'm in above my neck. Within these last 5 years I have discovered many different gaming systems, games such as War Machine, Bolt Action, Kings of War to mention a few. However it is my newly kindled love for the 40k universe that has prompted me into starting a Blog. After many many years of only ever collecting Blood Angle Space Marines for 40k I have decided to go to the green side and am going to start from scratch a new Space Ork...
